A Central Florida woman who was beaten nearly to death after a Florida Highway Patrol trooper dropped her off at a motel wants the agency to change its policy about how it renders assistance to stranded motorists.
The woman, who lost a leg and suffered brain damage after the attack, plans to sue FHP and the motel for negligence. She now lives at a health-care facility, and her 11-year-old daughter is being cared for by a relative.
It has been nearly a year since the 28-year-old was found unconscious in a motel room off Interstate 75 in Alachua County, but she and her family are no closer to figuring out how it all happened. |
